User Privileges
Privileges are null and void if the user violates any part of DynastyNet policy. From here on, any reference to The DynastyNet IRC Network will be referred to as 'we' or 'the net'. 'Users' will refer to any person or people that use the net's resources. 'He' will be unisexual, meaning male, female, or both. 'Opers' will refer to any individual or group of persons capable of attaining IRC Operator status upon logging on. 'The bill' will refer to this, The Users' Privileges. Users will not join, invite other users to, and/or try to trick other users to join sex, warez, mp3, hacking/cracking-related, channels designed for the degrading of a group, whether race, religion, or any others, channels that are related to DoS attacks, or any channel considered by the DynastyNet Executive Board to be an illegal channel. Such channels shall then be amended into this bill. Users will not antagonize, threaten, or harass any other user of the net, whether in private message or in channel. Harassment is defined in Webster as to annoy persistently. Users who feel they are being harassed should tell the person to stop harassing them, and try to use the /ignore command that most IRC clients have. If they continue, they forfeit their privilege of being connected, and shall be removed. We understand that some users do not have the ability to ignore, or the knowledge of their IRC client to add. Please don't hesitate to ask an Operator for help on adding them, or to have them removed. Users are allowed to register up to eight (8) channels and four (4) nicknames. With consent from a Service Operator, they may register more, pending approval from the Executive Board. Nickname lists and channel lists are reviewed often, to keep this policy as closely followed as possible. Concerning channels: Users may register any channel they wish, as long as it complies with policy, is not a "hate" channel directed towards any race, religion, sex, or group/individual, and is not a network channel. Network channels or anything relating to the net will be owned and managed by the net. Opers cannot and will not interfere with the normal operations of the channels, unless the operation is in violation of the net's policy. Channels that are on the network for the purpose of moving users to another network will be dropped, if they are reregistered or used unregistered they will be forbidden. Channels that move will be allowed one week of ChanServ use to notify members before the channel is considered an advertising channel. DynastyNet reserves the right to drop the channel upon notification of a move if another person wants to keep the channel active on DynastyNet. Concerning topics: Channels that are not secret or private shall keep their topics clean of foul language and derogatory comments. Secret and private channels do not show up in a channel's /list, and therefore a normal user cannot see them. If such topics are set, the channel will be warned, and then edited. Users should be tactful when setting topics. Every user is entitled to their opinion, but topics with derogatory comments towards any group or individual will be asked to be changed. If an oper feels a secret or private channel's topic is uncalled for, he has the right to ask that the topic be changed. Granted the channel is unseen by users, the possibility that a user might stumble on it, or the fact that the oper is offended, warrants action. Concerning nicknames: Users may register any nickname they want, as long as it complies with policy. Nicknames that are derogatory or foul will not be tolerated. Nicknames and channels that have been unregistered by dropping, or by unused de-registration, are open to anyone to register. If a user's nickname or channel has been 'hacked' by another, and sufficient evidence can be provided to an oper, so that there is no doubt or suspicion, the oper will take the appropriate steps to return the nick/channel to the original owner. Users should not antagonize, harass, criticize, swear at or in any other way bother opers, or keep them from performing their duties. Many opers have different views on these matters, and it should not be assumed they all think alike. You could face anything from a warning to removal from the net for these violations. Opers shall not abuse their 'powers', and shall set forth an example to all users. If a user witnesses an oper engaged in anything they feel is wrong, or unjust, the user may, at his discretion, email a statement to our abuse team (see link below).
